Trainer Endorsement Programme

The APDTNZ released a Trainer Endorsement Programme (TEP) at the annual conference held 2-4 June 2017 in Auckland. The TEP recognises and endorses those APDTNZ members who, as dog trainers, have a level of knowledge, experience and academic qualifications, or accreditation that is of a high calibre and is in line with the Association’s Code of Ethics promoting dog friendly training techniques. The aim is that over time endorsement will become a benchmark for dog-friendly, qualified, and experienced trainers so the public, as well as other dog trainers, can confidently seek them out.   Read more...

The Association has released a position statement on Breed Specific Legislation. It is the Association's view that BSL is an oversimplification of the many factors that contribute to dog bite incidents and will in no way reduce the risk of future dog bites.
